Artworks Creative Communities

Artworks’ Young Peoples Programme listens to young people and develops projects, which allow them to have a powerful voice. Working with musicians, rappers, dancers and artists, their performance and mentoring programmes specialise in engaging disaffected young people and motivating them to succeed in life.

Artworks’ projects with young people will:

  • Develop and deliver programmes which use the arts to engage young people in alternative education
  • Provide a range of evening, weekend and holiday activities for young people from across the district

Youth Music Mentors

Music is incredibly important for many young people. Listening to music can be a way of escaping from difficult situations and understanding the experiences of others, performing to others and expressing themselves can often be a source of comfort and inspiration.

The Youth Arts Academy, a partnership project with PipeLine Productions, will work with Artworks in their new premises, at the Delius Arts & Cultural Centre, to deliver high-quality music, dance and visual arts activities, using professional artists.

The aim of the project is to inspire young people to reengage with learning and raise their aspirations, allowing them to fulfil their potential and become active citizens. Young people will be recruited through outreach work and will be able to further develop their skills through attending structured programmes of activity within the academy.
