Factory St. Studios (FSS) is a Recording Studio with Rehearsal Rooms for musicians, run by Piece Project CIC a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, who aim to see music accessible for all. Music activities at Factory St. Studios are open mics, jam sessions, workshops, music events and youth projects such as Rock School. Piece Project CIC is run wholly by volunteers, those with a passion for music and the belief in it’s transformational benefits.

Rock School Volunteering
“Rock School” is a week’s musical program run at Factory St. Studios, 9 Factory St, Bradford BD4 9NW. Running from Monday 23rd – Friday 27th October 10am – 4pm young people aged 13 – 18 from across the district get first hand mentoring from music professionals, they form bands, practice, record their songs in the recording studio and perform a gig at the end of the week. They leave with a CD with their band photoshoot on the front and the experience of playing a live gig in front of their friends and family.
We are looking for team players who are interested in music/youth work that can either play an instrument, sing or have skills in the technical side of musical operations. There will be break-out sessions where support from volunteers will be of value for the young people to help them develop their skills and volunteers can gain experience by coaching/mentoring young people. There will also be support needed for set up and derigging of activities, tidying up and assisting young people with filling in forms.
On successful completion of the week you will receive a letter of recommendation.

Music Hub Volunteering
We are also looking for mature volunteers 18+ to support the operations of Rehearsal Rooms and the bar/refreshment area. You will be friendly, approachable, passionate about music, experienced with ICT, operating a till, have good customer service skills face to face and by phone. Knowledge about musical equipment a bonus. We have opportunities for daytimes, evenings and weekends. Having a driving license and access to a car is a bonus.
You will receive specialist barista training and guidance with managing the rehearsal rooms, setting up of equipment, taking payments and processing bookings. You will have the opportunity to support special events, open mics, jam sessions and workshops. You will also receive a letter of recommendation.
