Grade Theory Exams

Wed 3 July 2019

As you may be aware, progression beyond ABRSM Grade 5 instrumental exam requires pupils to have passed their Grade 5 Theory exam. This is not easy to teach as part of normal instrumental lessons due to time, therefore the Music & Arts Service runs separate courses to prepare students. Students may wish to attend the  Grade 1-4 theory class to build their skills towards the Grade 5 lessons or they may be able to come straight to the Grade 5 class depending upon their level of prior knowledge.

Lessons will take place every Thursday during term time, at North Bradford Music Centre, Titus Salt School, Higher Coach Road, Baildon, Shipley, BD17 5RH, at the following times

  • Grade 1-4 (4.10 – 4.50pm)
  • Grade 5 (5.10 – 5.50 pm)

The cost of each course is £31 per term per pupil.

Classes will teach the subject areas required, but students will need to complete work in between lessons to achieve a successful result.

Please note, pupils will only be recommended for Grade 5  when they are ready. The Grade 5 class will work towards the exam,  and will be entered at the appropriate time when they are ready.

Entering students for the exam and payment remains the responsibility of parents, but our teacher will be able to advise on this process.

If you would like to take up this opportunity, please sign up by completing the form below.

Please purchase the ABRSM Music Theory in Practice Grade 1-4 or Grade 5 workbook as appropriate and bring it with you to the first lesson.
