Music Centres and Ensemble Provision
The Music Service provides opportunities for children from all parts of the district to participate in bands, orchestras and choirs of various standards. Participation in these ensembles promotes a feeling of team work and encourages a sense of responsibility.
The centres provide for students of all ages and standards, from beginner upwards, with a wide range of opportunities to develop musicianship and playing skills. For most people, music has its greatest impact when played with others. Concert performances are the goal of most of our ensembles and are valuable experiences in their own right. We try to ensure that every ensemble in a Music Centre has regular performance opportunities.
The Service is committed to music education and therefore offers membership completely FREE for the first term or part thereof. However, in order that this work can continue a charge of £31 per term, or part thereof, is made in subsequent terms to contribute to the running costs of the ensembles. For children and young people on free school meals access is completely FREE. If you are on free school meals you can apply for free membership, however places are limited.
There are also various other music groups such as the Bradford Youth Orchestra and the new singing/performance group, Bradford Songstarlets!
Bradford Youth Orchestra is currently recruiting new players to join the orchestra. The Orchestra gives regular public performances around the Bradford District and undertakes foreign tours, the most recent being to Rhineland in July 2014. There is an exciting programme of performances and events planned each year. Bradford Youth Orchestra rehearses Saturday mornings during term time 9.00-12.00 at:
Titus Salt School
Higher Coach Road
It is open to young people up to the age of 21 years. We have opportunities in all sections of the Orchestra and we are particularly interested in players of brass, oboe, bassoon and cello.
