Secondary Music Network

Following the success of previous Network Meetings and feedback from schools, the Bradford Music Education Hub is pleased to announce the next date for the Secondary Music Teacher’s Network Meeting.

Who For: Bradford based Secondary School staff that teach and/or coordinate Music in their schools and for interested pupils to attend a vocal session with Bradford Youth Choir

When & Where: Wednesday 25th May 4pm – 5:30pm, Immanuel College, Leeds Road, Idle, BD10 9AQ

Cost: FREE


1:  Network meeting for staff 4-5.30pm

2:  Vocal session for pupils 4-5.30pm – We will be hosting a Youth Choir rehearsal session with Adam Gouldin & would like to offer staff the opportunity to bring along a few students from their school to participate in a vocal session.

3:  Staff to meet to discuss changes to the new BTEC Tech Award Level 1/Level 2 Music Practice with a view to sharing resources & setting up a working party. Please bring along any resources you may be willing to share.

Bradford Music & Arts Service and IVE have joined forces to launch an exciting, unique offer, exclusively for 15 schools located in the Bradford District through the Artsmark award.

Artsmark award is a creative quality standard for education settings, accredited by Arts Council England, supporting settings to:
• Embed creativity in your school curriculum and drive whole school improvement
• Implement a wealth of creative experiences for your pupils, in turn building character, developing pupil voice, unlocking potential
• Provide pupils with access to the experiences and skills necessary to equip them for life

The MusicFirst Young Composers Competition is an annual competition open to students in the United Kingdom ages 11-18 who compose their own original scores.

Finalists will participate in a live, virtual Masterclass with renowned composer Judith Weir at 4:00 PM GMT on 18 November 2021, during which she will provide commentary on each of the finalists’ work and announce the winner of each category.

Talk to your Music Teacher about submitting a composition for consideration.

Two finalists and one winner will be selected from each of the three categories:

  • 11-14
  • 15-16
  • 17-18
