Talented audio engineers can find themselves in the studio, on film sets and even on the red carpet.

Audio engineering has long been recognised as integral to musical success. Producers such as Sir George Martin, who evolved the Beatles sound, and Brian Eno, whose maverick talents reshaped many rock artists’ careers, including those of Bowie and U2, are legends in their own right.

But sound is all around us these days, and the role of the technical audio specialist has burst out of the recording studio. Now soundtracks, film premieres and video games all rely heavily on audio engineers for their impact and commercial success.
