MUSICAL DIRECTOR

Description of vacancy:

Due to changes in Service staffing from November 2021 the Music & Arts Service, Bradford are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and inspiring musical director for the Bradford Youth Orchestra. The orchestra is forward thinking, and regularly explores exciting partnerships with a wide variety of organisations; recent events have involved a Soul Band, a Rapper and working with a TV production company for a documentary. They hold annual residential weekends, take part in the Music for Youth festivals regularly, and tour abroad bi-annually.

Membership of the group is from Grade 5, and rehearsals are weekly in term time on Saturdays between 9am and 12 in Shipley, Bradford. The orchestra plays a wide repertoire from standard classical to film scores.

The successful candidate must be open to new ideas, have creative ways of thinking for the development of the orchestra and must be willing to undertake all residential weekends, tours and events which will be arranged in discussion with the Assistant Head of the Music & Arts Service.

The successful candidate will undergo a DBS check and references

Session rate £120 per Saturday session. Additional hours (except residentials and tours) £40 per hour.

 The Music & Arts Service often requires casual hourly paid staff to cover for extra work which comes in from schools as well as holidays/illness. If you would like to fill in the application form below/attached and return it to the Music & Arts Service office then should any work become available which is suitable for you we would contact you directly. Please note that minimum requirements for working for us is a Diploma in Music together with a driving license and access to a vehicle as the work is peripatetic and can involve travelling to several schools each day.
