Gifted & Talented Provision

Delius School

For gifted and talented primary school instrumentalists

The Delius School is a fantastic initiative from Bradford Council’s Music & Arts Service and offers talented young musicians the chance to develop their skills in all areas of music while discovering exciting new activities.

Students at The Delius School students meet once a month on a Sunday morning to take part in classes and workshops that will enrich their musical experience. They also benefit from enhancement activities such as residential trips and concert visits.

Students from Bradford state schools who currently have lessons through the Bradford Music & Arts Service also receive a 20-minute individual instrumental lesson at a subsidised rate. Those having private lessons will continue their instrumental lessons with their private tutor.

Tasmin Little, the world-famous violinist, and Kimberley Walsh, from Girls Aloud, believe that this is such an important step for young musicians in Bradford that they have become patrons of The Delius School.

This scheme is heavily supported by the Bradford Music Education Hub to allow costs to remain as low as possible for parents/carers.

Selection for The Delius School is by audition due to the limited number of places available.

Auditions for the Delius School take place once a year and are available for pupils who will be in Years 4, 5 or 6 in September 2022, have been playing for 1 year or more, and have reached the equivalent of Grade One standard.
